Legislative Action

The 2026 Legislative Session is scheduled to begin on February 17th  and end in May.  Capital bonding bills are typically passed during the even-numbered sessions, and despite the passage of a bonding bill 2025, we're hopeful that the legislature will pass a significant bonding bill in 2026 as well. The November budget forecasts a projected surplus of $2.465 billion on the current biennium but a structural imbalance in the FY 2028-29 biennium, where the balance is now projected to be negative $2.960 billion.

The Minnesota Transportation Alliance will be advocating for transportation funds and policies throughout the legislative session. Be sure to visit our Legislative Action page for more information throughout the year.
