Missouri Transportation Funding Increase
Leonard Toenjes, CAE | President, Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Missouri

In July of 2021, Governor Mike Parson has signed SB 262 into law, which will increase transportation funding for critical state and local infrastructure projects across the state of Missouri. The legislation includes a 2.5 cent per gallon increase in the fuel tax for 5 years. However, residents may apply for a refund of the tax by submitting fuel receipts.

SB21-260, signed into law in June of 2021, is projected to raise $5.4 bil-lion by the 2031-32 fiscal year, 70% of which would come from new fees. Those fees will kick in starting July 2022 on everything from gasoline and diesel fuel purchases, retail deliveries, ride-hailing services, electric vehicle registration and car rentals.
