Myth:
Gas tax revenue goes into Minnesota's General Fund for use
in all sorts
of things beyond highway projects.
Fact:
Revenue from the Minnesota gas tax is constitutionally dedicated
to the
Highway Trust Fund and must be used only for "highway
purposes" as defined
in the State Constitution.
